Henry Mitchell, born c 1764 and Elizabeth Tester, born 1767( Edburton), lived in Steyning from around 1797 until 1857. They had 6 children:-

Michael b1824, James b1825, Moses b1828, Mary b1830, Marchant b1835, Martha b1836, Maria b1837, Miriam b1839
Mary Ann b1848, Margaret b 1849, William b 1850, Susan b 1852, Moses b 1853, Harriet b 1854, Marchant b 1856, James b 1857, Michael b 1859, Amy b 1861, Alice Maria b 1863.
Moses (senior) became an engine driver, and James and Michael also worked on the railway in some capacity
Moses (junior) moved to London was a waggon maker in 1881, married Mary, and had a son Moses Caleb.
The family moved to Gillingham Kent by 1909 where Moses Caleb married Ethel Kate Gerrish.
By 1932 the family had moved to the Southampton area, Moses died 1932 age 78 at Eastleigh. Moses Caleb died 1936 age 55 at Southampton.
William married Phoebe Miller 1874 at Brighton, they moved to Hull, Yorks where they lived for 2 or 3 years before moving to London.
Marchant married Ann Eliza in Hull 1877, they moved back to Uckfield where their son Frederick Harold was born, he married Marie F. Sargent and they had 2 sons Malcolm F. b 1914, and Leonard John b 1916. Frederick Harold was killed in action 29th May 1918 near Bethune France.
