I think John (#5) was born in Kirdford to Thomas and Jane in 1808 but unfortunately in the 1871 Census - 1871 Palmyra Road St Helier Jersey (RG.10/5758) - he is recorded as being born in Tillington SSX!

Did John get it wrong? The problem is that I can find a Tillington birth for a John at the right time too!

This William Puttick operated the Queen's Head sometimes called the Puttick Inn at Upperton SSX just up the lane from Tillington.

Linking Thomas into the Kirdford Putticks is a little tenuous at this time. I can find a Thomas Puttick marrying a Jane Whittington at Kirdford in 1795 but the origins of Thomas are not all that clear. I can find such a man baptised in nearby Pulborough in 1795 but cannot link him back to the Kirdford Putticks with any certainty. Such work is difficult and expensive from afar!
